Why We Give Giving is an an act of worship and obedience from a heart surrendered to Christ ... a choice we make to follow God's instruction for us. Pastor Justin reminds us often that the Lord wants us to give from our hearts. God always honors and blesses obedience, we don't give to get. We give out of our need to act on our faith. God uses those resources for His glory and to further His Kingdom.

Vs 1-4
Psalms of Lament
Tell God about a troubling situation and ask for help.
___
Author - Sons of Korah (Psalm 84)
Who are they?
Korah - The great grandson of Levi and grandson fo Kehaath. Korah (Numbers 16) died from rebellion against the leaders Moses and Aaron, but God did not judge his sons (Numbers 26)
Rebellion does not have to stay in your line. Redeemed rebellion
Lets’ break it down.
Psalm 42, 43 were written together. Remember this is a song that was sung in the temple as they place the Psalms together to worship the Lord. So verse 1, verse 2, chorus.
Verse 1: 42:1-4
Verse 2: 42:6-10
Verse 3: 43:1-5
Chorus, 42:5, 42:11, 43:6
___
This is important because we can see the two thoughts of the text.
Vs 1-4 - I Want to Be Filled
6-10 - The fear God has forgotten me.
5,11 - Where I want my soul but can’t get it there.
___
Whats happening?
We don’t know for exact where they were historically, we can surmise their situation. The psalmist is far from the sanctuary in Zion - against their will, where they believe that God rested. That Gods divine presence and manifestation was presence. The psalmist, while connected with David does not speak and repeat something David said, they speak from the depth of their own soul.
There is joy and weeping.
This week:
43: 1-4
-What an Angry prayer Sounds Like.
The writer positions themselves in the place of being right and his enemies being wrong. God will intervene…if that is right.
Vs 2
You are my refuge - the God of my strength
Why have you forgotten me - other translations - cast me off
Why am I mourning because of my enemy.
This is an angry prayer. Verses one and two are very interesting.
The writer is angry.
He accuses God of forgetting him…again.
He positions himself higher than others.
He calls others ungodly and deceitful
Anger does not have to control you.
I’m sure you have heard he scripture that only “a fool gives full vent to his anger,” (Proverbs 29:11) or “man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life God desires,” (James 1:20),
Listen, Jesus came to give us freedom from sin and abundant life, hope and healing. Anger is a sickness of the heart, and only by diagnosing its causes correctly, can we discover the cure in Christ.
Lets engage and prayerfully HEAL anger.
4 things We Have To Understand About Anger To Move Past It
1. Anger is a moral emotion. (Proverbs 19:11)
Anger is a sure sign we’re still wanting control and that we don’t believe Jesus alone is all we need or that His ways are the only path to true fulfilment.
2. Anger is a physical emotion. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
Giving yourself an opportunity to “vent” your anger physically on your own — by going for a run, locking yourself in your car and screaming at the top of your lungs, or using a punching bag in the basement — is the first step to ridding yourself of anger’s energy and giving your rational mind an opportunity to examine your own heart, exercise self-control, and seek a constructive way forward in the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. Anger is a communicating emotion. ( Ephesians 4:31-32, Proverbs 15:18)
Creating a calm, safe space in your closest relationships to regularly express your feelings and hear how others feel is an essential part of learning a new emotional language to communicate without anger.
4. Anger is not a wise emotion. (Ephesians 4:26-27, Psalm 4:4)
The right response for us is not to condemn the world and its people, but to do our part to bring peace. Just as Jesus came to turn offenders into friends, we must be ambassadors of that reconciliation, bearing the full fruit of the Holy Spirit. And that's almost always the exact opposite of anger.
The good news: God loves you beyond your anger.
Your anger to God does NOT stop God’s movement.
What if, you met God with vs 3-4 anticipation when things aren’t going your way instead of Vs 1-2
Good news - God can handle your worst emotions
Gooder news - God doesn’t reject your worst emotions
Great news - because of the cross and redemption through Jesus, God can redeem your negative emotions.

What Is the Book of Psalms All About?
Psalms are songs. The Psalms show us that we can communicate with God through a variety of circumstances, songs, and emotions.
How Psalms Fits Into God's Big Story:
We can use our gifts to express something to God or about God.
God is not afraid of our emotional prayers and our worst moments.
Everything about our worship must be centered on Jesus
How Psalms Fits Into My Story:
Worshipping God is not limited to our external circumstances
My worship must be willing to be Honest with God
There is nothing I can bring to God that God can’t handle
