Little Did I Know
God Wants All of Me
January 29/30, 2022
Daniel Im
God wants all of us:
· The practice of Giving Together means that we will give all of ourselves back to God because everything we have and everything we are is actually from him
· Our time, talents, and treasure are from God
· “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? For everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your own hand.” (1 Chronicles 29:14 CSB)
Our Relationship With Money:

1. We’re greedier than we think

- And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of people’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders, adulteries, greed, evil actions, deceit, self-indulgence, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a person.” (Mark 7:20-23 CSB)
- Therefore, put to death what belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5 CSB)
- The one who loves silver is never satisfied with silver, and whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with income. This too is futile. (Ecclesiastes 5:10 CSB)
- A greedy one is in a hurry for wealth; he doesn’t know that poverty will come to him. (Proverbs 28:22 CSB)
- But the Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and evil. Fools! Didn’t he who made the outside make the inside too? But give from what is within to the poor, and then everything is clean for you. (Luke 11:39-41 CSB)
- But those who want to be rich fall into temptation, a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (1 Timothy 6:9-10)
- “Watch out and be on guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.” (Luke 12:15 CSB)
- Keep falsehood and deceitful words far from me. Give me neither poverty nor wealth; feed me with the food I need. Otherwise, I might have too much and deny you, saying, “Who is the Lord?” or I might have nothing and steal, profaning the name of my God. (Proverbs 30:8-9 CSB)
2. We’re not as savvy as we think
- Money gives us a false sense of security, and makes us think that we are savvier than we think
- The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are protected. The wealth of the rich is his fortified city; in his imagination it is like a high wall. (Proverbs 18:10-11 CSB)
3. We need more grace than we think
- For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ: Though he was rich, for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9 CSB)
- The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should do as he has decided in his heart—not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8 CSB)
Next Steps:
- Reflect on the sacrificial grace of our Lord Jesus Christ—on how he gave all of Himself to us
- Reflect on your financial giving and what it would look like to give to the point of sacrifice to the church and to the poor
