In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus continuing His Journey towards Jerusalem. As He does, He tells a parable of two men, teaching His listeners about humility. Then, Jesus follows up the parable by correcting His disciples when they rebuke people for bringing their babies to Jesus. By taking a look at this passage, we can see how to stay humble:
1. Don’t compare yourself to others
Instead, compare yourself to God’s standards
Luke 18:11-13, Is. 64:6, Rom. 3:10-12, 23, Ps. 14:3, 53:3
2. Don’t focus on your own good works
Instead, focus on God’s work
Luke 18:11-13, John 3:16, Rom. 3:23-25, 10:9-10, 1 Tim. 2:5-6
3. Have child-like faith
Luke 18:15-17, Matt. 18:1-14, 1 Pet. 2:2, John 1:12

Reflection Questions
1. After reading and hearing about Jesus teaching about humility, evaluate your own life. What do you do well? What do you need to work on?
2. How would it change your relationship with the Lord if you were more humble? How would it change your interactions with others?
3. What are some practical steps that you can take right now to improve your humility? Who can keep you accountable to that?

Groups
We believe that our faith grows best when we surround ourselves with other believers. That’s why we encourage everyone to be a part of one of our groups, where we can intentionally share our lives with one another. There is a Sunday School group meeting on Sunday mornings before Service at 9:30. Our small groups are also in the process of starting for the fall. If you would like to be a part of one, please reach out to Pastor Josh.
