The Leadership team has decided that mandatory masking, at this time, for any person inside the church with others, is a necessity to prevent further spread of Covid and keep the church open for services, classes, and all other events. In addition to this, we ask that you practice social distancing and sanitizing as much as possible. Also, we ask that if you are sick in any manner, please do not attend church until completely healed. If you have tested positive, please follow the current CDC guidelines. Our goal is to keep the church safe and open. We will continue to monitor the Covid situation and update this as needed. Hopefully this will be a short need.
Jesus seemed to just be the son of a village carpenter in Nazareth, but he was becoming quite famous "through the whole countryside." When he returned home, he attends the local synagogue on the Sabbath and is invited to read the scriptures. The eyes of the people in the synagogue are fixed on Jesus as he reads from Isaiah 61:1-2. Isaiah is writing about the promised release of captive Israel from the Babylonian bondage, and does so in terms of the Year of Jubilee, that special time when all slaves are set free and debts retired, cf. Lev.25. Having read the words, Jesus announces to the congregation that what they have heard read to them is fulfilled this very day. Now is the year of the Lord's favor; God's people, enslaved by powers secular and satanic, are now a people set free. When we encounter Jesus, we are forever set free from the bondage of sin!
