January 23 2022 Sermon Notes

The Apostle John gives us a project in today’s passage: “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin.” The last part of 1 John 1 spelled out a hard truth about sin – human beings have a sin-problem that cannot be ignored or denied. Now in the first part of cp. 2, John tells us what to do about it. In addition to confessing it and receiving forgiveness (1 John 1:9), we also need to use the resources God gives us to overcome sin. In this sermon, we focus on three resources we have in the person of Jesus for winning the battle against sin in our own lives.
