Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our Monday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors. Please know that these questions are meant to be a resource to you. You do not have to follow them verbatim or get through them all. We trust you to know your group and to ask the questions based on your group needs.
1. John the Baptist calls Jesus the “Lamb of God, who takes away the
sin of the world.” What kind of images do you think this would have
brought to the minds of his hearers? See Exodus 12:1-13. What does
this foreshadow?
2. How do our unbelieving neighbors view the concept of sin? Is it good news to them that Jesus takes away the sin of the world? What emotions do you feel when you hear the phrase “Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world?”
3. John the Baptist is a witness to who Jesus is and calls him both the “Lamb of God” and the “Son of God.” Who do you say Jesus is?
4. In what ways does your life bear witness to Jesus? Do you show that you believe He is through your words and deeds? Who sees this?
PRAYER PROMPT
Spend time thanking God for taking away your sin. Praise Him for His mercy and forgiveness. Ask for His grace as you live your life in light of His forgiveness, that your life would be a witness to the world of His goodness.

> If we don’t see a lamb then we don’t see Jesus
> Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of THE WORLD
“God’s cosmic kingdom...includes industry, technology, recreation, the arts, education, commerce, politics, and so on. As a result…Poverty matters to God. Gun violence matters to God. Racism matters to God. Divorce, child abuse, genocide, sex-trafficking all matter to God…Issues of justice in society, for Christians, are issues of liberating the creation from the work of the devil.” -Anthony Bradley
> Behold the lamb of God who TAKES AWAY THE SIN of the world
“God hates sin not just because it violates his law but, more substantively, because it violates shalom, because it breaks the peace, because it interferes with the way things are supposed to be.”
-Cornelius Plantinga

> BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD who takes away the sin of the world
