As we start this new year, we will be examining who we are as a church, where we are going, and how to get there.
Our mission at The Crossing is to help people find an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We say it all the time because we believe that Jesus is for Everyone and Everyone deserves a chance to meet Him.
In the last two years, 5412 people have come to our doors for the first time and 1040 people made the decision to follow Jesus and be baptized.
This mission fuels our big commitments to God and to one another, to ensure that we keep reaching people.
Outward - We will do whatever it takes to reach people who are far from Jesus. We will continue to prioritize those we are trying to reach, being a place dedicated to helping those far from God draw near.
Downward - We will gladly give up the things we love for a future generation we love even more. We will continue to cultivate ministry to kids, because they are the next generation of the church.
Relevant - We will do fresh things in fresh ways to reach people no one else is reaching. We will make changes, try new things, and end others to ensure that our church is not a time machine.
Innovate - We will take big, faith-filled risks and never insult God with small thinking and safe living. As a church, we have had major wins and losses; not all seed that is planted takes root, but we are called to sow and water and let God supply the growth.
Make Leaders - We will develop leaders who honor God and inspire people and they will change the world. We want to give people a place to play, learn, grow and develop.
Grow - We will never stop measuring, changing, and moving for growth because nothing matters more to God than people. Our church has to be a place that is committed to reaching, growing, baptizing and discipling the very people that Jesus died for.
We Are One - The Church is the hope of the world and we can accomplish infinitely more together than apart. We, the people, are the church. When we take what God has given us and put it collectively in the hands of God, there is no telling what He will do.
God has allowed our church to expand its growth and reach through our commitment to these Core Values, our faith in God, our trust in His Scripture, the enabling of His Holy Spirit and the desire of our people to follow God and reach people.
We would never pray for the events of the last few years, but we were made for them, seizing opportunities to reach people for Jesus and ensuring that our church is a church for everyone.
Jesus sees the least, the lost and the last and His heart breaks.
God has a heart for cities because cities are comprised of people, and we must look at our communities with the same heart and perspective.
If the world around us is going to need a church, a place to find and grow in Jesus, and on the heels of the covid pandemic need hope and healing, then why couldn't that be us here and now?
There has to be a place, and it is here with us!
