LAST WEEK:

ISAIAH...

- writing 800 years before Jesus shows up in Bethlehem.
- Isaiah 9

Isaiah 9:2-3...
2 The people who walked in darkness have seen a great LIGHT; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has LIGHT shone.

Isaiah 9:6-7...
6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over His kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

He saw the Light that was coming into the world...
- was Wonderful and Counselor
- was Mighty and God
- was Everlasting and Father
- was Prince and Peace

Isaiah 9:7...
Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end...
1. This Light is for EVERYONE.

John 1:9...
The true Light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

Just because the world doesn't know Him or believe in Him, doesn’t make Him any less real, any less God or any less powerful.

Romans 5 explains it well...
- Through one man’s trespass...you received your sin nature, death.
- Through Jesus...you receive the abundance of grace/free gift of righteousness
- His light shines in your darkness and covers it all.
- It’s bright enough for all of us.

The word for everyone here actually means...
- Every single person who has ever lived.
- Your worst enemy.
- Yourself.
Know anything else that is absolutely free for everyone?
2. This LIGHT is for EVERYONE but not EVERYONE CARES!

John 1:10-11...
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him.11 He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.

Think about how many people...
- near Him & didn’t care
- there in the crowd to see Him but didn’t listen.
- listening to Him but didn’t respond to Him.
- met Him but weren’t moved by Him.

Mark 6:1-6...
1 “He went away from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him. 2 And on the Sabbath He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to Him? How are such mighty works done by His hands? 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary...And they took offense at Him. 4 And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” 5 And He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief.

- Jesus knew the rejection, the offensive nature of people – rude.
- He marveled at their unbelief.
How much harder is it to share Christ with your own relatives?

Do you sit back at times and marvel at people’s blatant disregard for Jesus?
3. This LIGHT is ready to be RECEIVED, BELIEVED, & make us RIGHT.

John 1:12-13...
12 But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

Acts 20:24...
“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."

Colossians 2:6-7...
6 “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith...
What are you doing with what you have RECEIVED?

If you BELIEVED it enough then, what has changed?
4. This LIGHT is GOD'S GLORY & OUR GOAL.

John 1:14...
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Why did He become flesh & dwell among us?
- So, we would have something to work towards.
- What goal do you have in your life that is MORE important than Jesus?

He’s the goal to shoot for...
- Do you know Him?
- Do others see Him in you?
- Do you even care?
hey
hey
