Here is something that we can all expect: every promise that is in this Word will come to pass.
Many times, it seems our prayers are bouncing off the ceiling and God isn’t listening. But the problem is not with God not listening, the problem is with our expectation.
Maybe we need a “RECHECK on our EXPECT”

David had an expectation that he would actually see God’s promise fulfilled while he was alive on this earth.
God told David, your son Solomon will be the one to build me a temple
Solomon prays with great expectation of what God will do for Israel when they remain faithful to God.

That was Solomons prayer expecting God to show up in the temple. And God did not disappoint.
The next verse in Chapter 7, God shows up:
The next verse in Chapter 7, God shows up:
Have we come expecting this morning for God to show up in Hilo?
Have we come this morning expecting God to show up in this service?
He will not disappoint.
Have we come this morning expecting God to show up in this service?
He will not disappoint.
There is a story in the New Testament about a man showing proof that he really did expect Jesus to heal his blindness, His name was Bartimaeus.
When we read about this beggar garment, we don’t think too much about it, but it had a great value to those who possessed it.
At the time, the government issued people with life debilitating handicaps an official beggar’s garment. It made them official. They were legal beggars.
Any citizens who saw a beggar on the side of the road begging with a government cloth covering them, they knew they were a legitimate beggar that they really were blind, ill, or lame.
The Bible says when he heard Jesus was passing by, he did something amazing:

The Bible says when he heard Jesus was passing by, he did something amazing:
[We might imagine the beggar's thoughts:] "I know I can’t see yet, I know I’m not healed yet, But Jesus is calling me! And because Jesus is calling me, I’m casting this beggar’s garment away. I am fully expecting that I will never go back to that life of begging again, Jesus is going to give me a miracle today!"
And immediately he received healing.
If you have expectation, the proof of your expectation will lead you into action!
The proof of his expectation was this: he threw away the thing that he always depended on for survival.

Acts 3 gives us an example of Jesus using Peter and John to do something exceeding abundantly more than someone expected:
Maybe the Holy Spirit is trying to teach us in this:
When you have an expectation of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, and I have the same expectation of the Holy Spirit manifestation, then the combination of our expectation CAN produce the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
And here is a scripture to back that up. Jesus said:
When you have an expectation of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, and I have the same expectation of the Holy Spirit manifestation, then the combination of our expectation CAN produce the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
And here is a scripture to back that up. Jesus said:
Revisiting the manifestation of God’s presence in Solomons temple (in 2 Chronicles 6), Solomon prays with great expectation of what God will do for Israel when they remain faithful to God. Just a few verses later (in Ch. 7), God tells Solomon what He expects from us. Then, seven days after the glory of God filled the temple, The Lord appears again to Solomon:
The word “IF” appears in the bible 1784 times. The word “IF” means something is conditional: If you will do this, then I will do that.
God has already told us what would bring His glory back into a place.
If we ever lost it.
If we ever started depending on things rather than on the presence of the Holy Spirit.
If the world got to a place that he had to send a plague to get our attention again.
This is what God expects from us:
"Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways" (2 Chronicles 7:14a)
Four things He required:
IF WE:
1. Humble ourselves
2. Pray
3. Seek His face
4. turn from our wicked ways.
We can’t expect God to do all we want, but if this “VERTICAL” relationship is not right.
Then this “HORIZONAL” RELATIONSHIP CANNOT BE HEALED.
AND WHEN WE ARE RIGHT WITH GOD, THIS IS WHAT WE CAN EXPECT:
"I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place." (2 Chronicles 7:14b-15)
Yes, Expectation is the womb, or the waiting room for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. But only through HUMILITY AND TRUE REPENTANCE will God meet our expectations.
