Jehovah Jireh and Thanksgiving| Behind the Curtain Part 4

Long before Jesus set foot on our planet, before He ever took on human form, He had a purpose, personality, and presence that was prophesied in the Bible. As we look toward the Christmas season, we go behind the curtain to learn who Jesus really was.

With all of the meals, family drama, and traditions that surround this holiday of Thanksgiving, there is one that remains - giving thanks.

Romans speaks of a sin vortex that sucks us in and pulls us down, and it begins when we quit being thankful.

The Bible teaches that every good thing we have in this life comes directly from God; thanksgiving begins there too.

Provider is one of God’s names, used by Abraham to describe Him: Jehovah Jireh, the One Who Provides.

This name originates from an uncharacteristic moment for God - asking for a human sacrifice. However, God spares Abraham from sacrificing his son.

A sacrifice was still required, but it wasn’t to be Isaac. The only human sacrifice God ever required, He provided Himself.

All of God’s provision rests on this greatest of all sacrifices.

God showers His blessings on us every day in both subtle and spectacular ways.

He has provided for The Crossing with resources and in making new leaders, just as God has called us to do.

For provision to be effective, it must not only be offered, but received. Sometimes to receive it, we have to lay down other things.

God has made provision for you today: salvation and every good thing after it. In order to receive it, there is something or a few things to lay down.
