A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE--Jude vs. 5-7

Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
I. THOSE WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD'S WORD
The First Example: The Hebrews in the wilderness
1. For Their Freedom
Exodus 14 "Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have brought us
out here to die?"

2. For Their food
"Have you brought us out here to starve and die of thirst?"

3. For Their Future
Numbers 14:22-23 “Surely all the men who have seen My glory and My signs which I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have put Me to the test these ten times and have not listened to My voice, shall by no means see the land which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who spurned Me see it.”
II. THOSE WHO REJECT GOD’S WILL

v.6: “And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day.”
1 Peter 3:18-20: “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, 19 in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, 20 because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah.”

Genesis 6:1-2: When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. And they took as their wives any they chose.”

Genesis 6:4: “The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them.”
a. We deny His demands
Truth: The rejection of God’s word always results in the rejection of God’s will.

b. We deny His design
Genesis 1:27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
III. THOSE WHO REJECT GOD’S WAYS

v.7: “Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”

1 John 3:13: “Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.”
