CHRISTIANS ARE DIFFERENT:

Our lives have been transformed.

The Spirit of God (the Holy Spirit) dwells in us.
When we were saved, God deposited the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Yet, there is a further empowering of the Spirit promised to believers.
At salvation we are “filled” with the Spirit.
We have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us.

Subsequent to salvation there is a empowering spiritual experience whereby believers are Baptized in the Holy Spirit.
This promise of the Spirit was foretold by the Prophet Joel:
The promise was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost
In the early church the natural course after conversion was to go on into the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.
There are Christians who have not yet been Baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Perhaps they do not understand that there is a further dimension in the Spirit.
WHAT IS THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?

It is a subsequent experience to salvation whereby the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, comes upon the believer to anoint and energize him/her for Christian service.

WHY BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?

FOR WHOM IS THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT INTENDED?

The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is for all who believe in Jesus Christ and received Him as their Savior
HOW DO WE RECEIVE THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT?

WE RECEIVE IT BY FAITH, the same way we received salvation.
BELIEVE IN THE PROMISE OF GOD TO GIVE US THE SPIRIT
BELIEVE THAT THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS FOR YOU!
AS YOU BELIEVE IN FAITH FOR THE BAPTISM, YOU MUST ALSO YIELD YOURSELF TO CHRIST

a. EXAMPLE: An example from water baptism: there is the one being baptized and the one doing the baptizing. The one being baptized needs to yield to the one doing the baptizing

b. Luke 3:16c: . . . He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

The baptism with the Holy Spirit is primarily an encounter with the baptizer, our Lord Jesus Christ

EVIDENCES OF BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Some of the evidences are manifested IMMEDIATELY while others manifest themselves as one continues to walk in the fullness of the Spirit.

THE IMMEDIATE INITIAL PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IS SPEAKING IN TONGUES.

Speaking in tongues is an utterance in a heavenly language which flows through us as we are baptized with the Holy Spirit.

(1) Acts 2:4 - On the Day of Pentecost
(2) Acts 10;44-46 - Peter at the home of Cornelius
