The Old Testament is the covenant or agreement between God and the people of Israel. It contains a description of the origin of life and serves as part of the historical record of mankind and the Jewish nation. The New Testament is about God’s covenant or agreement with all people.
Jesus did not come to abolish the Old Covenant, but to fulfill the Old Covenant.
The New Contract is written on our hearts.
When you make Jesus your Lord and your Savior, and you become obedient in the waters of baptism, you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The power, wisdom, and ways of God are seared into your conscience and heart.
You are also given a divine compass to help you navigate not only the challenges of life, but also your spiritual growth in Christ.
We may feel like we are only off a little, but with the pace of life, our ability to get drastically off course in a short period of time is greatly increased. There are so many factors in our lives, both internal and external that pull the needle even further.
This is why the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is so special and necessary. He not only guides us on the right path, shows us true north, but also gives us the power to take the right and necessary steps.
The New Contract provides for perfect forgiveness.
Under the old contract, a person would go behind the curtain into the Holy of Holies to offer sacrifices for the people. When Jesus died on the cross, this curtain was torn in two, signifying that there was no longer a barrier between God and His people.
We are completely forgiven; there is no longer any separation or animosity between us and God. We can enter with confidence.
The New Contract is for all people.
In the Greek, All means All. It is for all who are far off, no matter how far.
If the new covenant is for all people, there must be a place for all people to learn about Him and begin that intimate personal relationship with his son Jesus Christ, His church.
