Our fears are misguided when we think the size of our problems are greater than the size of our God.

Enneagram Core Fears
1 - Being bad/wrong
2 - Being unloved/unwanted
3 - Being worthless/a failure
4 - Being without significance/no identity
5 - Being incompentent/incapable
6 - Being without support or guidance
7 - Bring deprived, trapped, or limited
8 - Being harmed/controlled
9 - Being fragmented/at loss with others
Our God is not predictable, but He is reliable.

Fear is a slavemaster, but God calls us to look at our past to remember that our fears are not an obstacle that He can't handle. There is only one who is worthy of fear, and it's the Lord Himself.
--Fear Him
Fear the Lord over all of your other worries. There's only one worthy of your worry, and in His shadow there are no giants.

--Walk in obedience
Even when you don't know what tomorrow holds.

--Love Him
Who we are with will always be more important than where we are going.

--Serve Him
If God's rescue is in our past, then His mission is in our future.
PCC BENEDICTION
May you jump into the arms of Jesus and may He push out into the world. May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others. Not because you must, but because you may. This is why we were born!
Beyond Sunday
Like the Israelites in the desert heading toward the Promised Land, we are a faith community heading into a promised future. In this series, Together: Remembering - Experiences that Inform Our Future we will learn from the Israelites’ story, found in the Book of Deuteronomy, about what they were called to remember in order to follow God well. This week, we focus on remembering that obedience stems from our fear of the Lord.

1. Review: Pick 1 to reflect on and discuss. What have you been remembering about what God has done for you? How is BLESSing others in your land going? What commandment have you been attempting to live into more?

2. In your past relationships, what has motivated you to honor or obey the other person (i.e. supervisor, coach, teacher, spouse, significant other, friend)?

3. Read Deuteronomy 10:12-13 What is this passage calling us and the Israelites to do? Why is this important? What do you note about the order?

4. If you had described what it means to fear the Lord to another person what would you say? If to fear the Lord is to revere and honor Him, what is it about the Lord that helps you get to this posture in your own life? What hinders you from this posture of fearing the Lord?

5. PCC’s Scott Kirksey on Sunday stated that “Our fears are misguided when we think the size of our problems are greater than the size of our God.” How do you find your own fears limit your ability to fear the Lord? See how Moses and God reminded the Israelites to overcome their fears in Deuteronomy 31:6-7, 23. What other passages come to mind to help you fear the Lord more than your fears (e.g. Matthew 6:25-27)?

6. The story of Deuteronomy reflects the tension that our God and His plans are not always predictable, but He is reliable (faithful). How has God been reliable to you and how could remembering this help you to obey as you head into your unknown future?
