First Baptist Church of Morton

Sermon Title: "Holy Calling"
We have received a calling greater than ourselves. As Christians, we are to be representatives of Jesus Christ. This is only possible through faith and obedience. In a sermon titled, "Holy Calling", Pastor Ben Towell will be discussing the importance of the pursuit of holiness in the lives of every believer. We will discover not only how it impacts our relationship with God, but also how it affects our relationship with our fellow man.

https://firstbaptistmorton.churchcenter.com/people/forms/169641Overview: As Christians, we have been called out to a higher purpose. The reason for our salvation is not merely our redemption, but so that we can be a representative of the God who created us. We have received a holy calling!
Directions: Today, we will explore three key thoughts that are communicated by Peter in his first epistle. We will discover, like the early church, how to live out our holy calling.

I. The preparation for a holy calling. (v. 13-16)
II. The pathway of a holy calling. (v. 17-21)
What does it look like to follow Jesus?
1. We must live like Jesus.
2. We must love like Jesus.
3. We must lead like Jesus.

“Things are precious, often because of their relationship. The most precious thing a mother has is her dear babe. We all love those who are near to us by the ties of nature. Precious, therefore, in the sight of the Lord are His saints, because they are born in His household. . . . Think not that God our Father has less affection towards His children than we have towards ours.” (Charles H. Spurgeon)
III. The passion from a holy calling. (v. 22-25)
Destination: We are not merely called to speak good news into the ears of our neighbor, but we have also been commissioned by the Lord to live a life beyond reproach. In other words, we are to live out our holy calling, both before God and our fellow man.
