SCRIPTURE

THY KINGDOM COME…
The Kingdom is established in eternity.
God is sovereign over all things for all time and space. The Kingdom is the domain of God.
The Kingdom is evolving in earth.
1/ Past
“…Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God.” Luke 13:28, ESV
2/ Present
“…the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.” Luke 17:21, ESV
“The kingdom of God is a society upon earth where God’s will is as perfectly done as it is in heaven.” William Barclay
3/ Future
Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 1 Corinthians 15:24, ESV
The Kingdom is here! The Kingdom is on its way!
THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN…
The Macro Will of God
All people believe one of the following:
1/ The will of God is like a script.
2/ The will of God is like a ship.
3/ The will of God is like a slope.
The Micro Will of God
The will of God is extremely nuanced.
1/ There is the predestined will of God.
This is the set, unstoppable, immovable will of God (Genesis 1:3; Revelation 6:1).
2/ There is the prescribed will of God.
This is what God desires for humanity (Matthew 22:37; Exodus 20:1-17)
Many consider this the “revealed will of God.”
3/ There is the permissive will of God.
This is what God allows, though He may or may not approve (1 Samuel 8:19-22; Daniel 6:16).
“Father Filtered”
4/ There is the personal will of God.
This is what God wants for our individual lives, outside of what is written in Scripture.
Many consider this the “concealed will of God.”
Discovering the Personal Will of God
1/ Scripture: Is this supported by the Word of God and the ways of God?
God will use the Bible to guide us.
Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105, NLT
Measure every decision, feeling, thought, and want against the Bible.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Timothy 3:16, NLT
2/ Spirit Promptings: Is the peace of the Holy Spirit present?
God may use peace, promptings, conscience, dreams, or visions to steer us.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5, NLT
3/ Spiritual Counsel: Do my spiritual leaders encourage this decision?
God may direct us through truthful, godly people who want the best for our life.
…in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14, NLT
A man of understanding will acquire wise counsel. Proverbs 1:5, NLT
“Eight Mentors”

4/ Sacred Echoes
God may use certain scriptures, themes, phrases, or circumstances to provide direction.
Paul experienced this in Acts 21:4-14.
5/ Supernatural Circumstances
God may use unusual happenings to direct us.
This happened with Balaam’s donkey in Numbers 22:21-39.
Beware of creating a false fleece.
