Throughout this series, we are looking at the primary purpose of the Church, which is to Be and Bring Jesus to the world. This week, we are looking specifically at Jesus. For most people, Jesus is words on a page, just a story. Read the following scripture. What do you learn about Jesus from John's words?
The Church often wants to turn Jesus back into words- choosing to focus on sharing information about Him. We must keep turning Jesus into flesh- the way He intended. This is where we get to know, see, and experience Him. What do you think about this?
Pastor Jonathan took some time to explain who Jesus is and is not. Discuss this list. What do you find most challenging or most encouraging?
Jesus is NOT...a theological system, a list of rules, a political agenda
or condemnation.
He came to care, help, save, serve, and love.
He was overly gracious (too much for some's liking)
He raised the bar
He was the model for sacrifice and submission.

Jesus' plan was that His followers would represent Him in the world, and the Church would lead the way. He charged His followers to love as He loved (John 13:34-35), and to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). Throughout the New Testament, Jesus referred to His followers as the "Body of Christ".
So, how do you think the Church has done with this so far?

Our community should be able to look at our church and think, "There's Jesus!" It would be a tragedy for someone to reject Jesus simply because the Church misrepresented Him.

In light of this message and discussion, what is one thing you've learned about Jesus? About yourself?
This leads us to a crucial question: "How much of Jesus do they see when they look at me?"
In what area(s) of your life does this need to become a larger priority? Your marriage, relationships, at work, on the ballfield, in your neighborhood, in traffic, etc?

How have you seen this to be true?
