** Do I find myself frequently thinking about something sinful? Is my imagination possessed by some sinful object, attraction, or desire?
** Do I dwell on sin with private pleasure? When I think about some temptation to sin, do I taste its sweetness with the tongue of my soul?
** Do I rationalize? Do I find myself arguing against conviction?

3. Conquer the will.
It is in the nature of sin to pursue its course little by little, to the very end. Every intentional indulgence of lust would become adultery if it could. Greedy desires are content with nothing less than having, even if it means stealing to get. That look that could kill would kill, if it had its way. And a bitter heart, seething in its desire for revenge, will eventually find a way to get its pound of flesh.
