God's Great Love Provides (declared in 1 John = 12 springs)

Life, Fellowship, Joy, Light, Forgiveness, Love for Others, Warnings, Grace, Compassion, Discerning Spirit, His Example, The Best Way

Last week:
We focused on how God's love provides warnings.

THIS WEEK:
We will look at how God's love leads us to grace and compassion.

Ice Cream Verse: 1 John 3:18
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

How do YOU define love?

John's definition: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. 1 John 3:16

God lavished his love on us.

Exodus 34:6 "...the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness..."

Love is active.

verses 17 & 18: If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

Grace and compassion lead to loving actions.

Every time we fill our bucket with compassion and grace, we are rooting ourselves in Jesus, the giver of true love, compassion, and grace. Living out love in this way is to walk step in step with Jesus.

--Daily Examen: Today, how did I receive and release the love of God? Is unconfessed sin causing my love to leak?

PCC BENEDICTION
May you jump into the arms of Jesus and may He push out into the world. May you be healed as you participate in the healing of others. Not because you must, but because you may. This is why we were born!

Beyond Sunday
The series Together: Responding to His Great Love is foundational to our new beginning at PCC. By studying the 12 springs from the great well of God’s love in the Book of 1 John, our hope is that it would empower us to love ourselves and others more, as we seek His future direction. This week, we focus on how God’s love provides us with grace and compassion for ourselves and others.

1. In the last week, how did you receive and/or release the love of God? If not, what could you do to position your soul more to do so?

2. Lectio Divina: 1 John 3:11-24 What stands out (words, phrases, theme) to you after the second or third time you read it through?

3. Have you ever experienced active grace and compassion in your own life? What was it like? How did it make you feel?

4. How can you express active grace and compassion to others around you this day/ week/ month?

5. Who are you going to grab ice cream with this week, and sit and chat about verse 18?
