Proverbs 23:4-5 NIV
4 Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness.5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
Good Debt - Debt that increases your worth or enhances your life.
Bad Debt - Debt that focuses on consumption.
WHY WE SHOULD LIVE WITH NO DEBT:
1) The Bible never calls debt good.
Proverbs 22:7 NIV
7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
2) Debt’s goal is ownership.
Proverbs 22:26-27 NIV
26 Do not be one who shakes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts 27 if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.
3) Debt never warns you of the risk.
Nehemiah 5:1-5 NIV
1 Now the men and their wives raised a great outcry against their fellow Jews.2 Some were saying, “We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain.”3 Others were saying, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine.”4 Still others were saying, “We have had to borrow money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards.5 Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our fellow Jews and though our children are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others.”

Philippians 14:12-13 NIV

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)
18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
