Today’s Message. ”The 'Other' God”

Scripture: Philippians 2:5-11

God is the only God, yet God is the “other” God. God wholly “other” than us. Nowhere is this more evident then God's ability to be inside & outside, big & small, “transcendent” & “immanent,” all at the same time. Which makes God worthy of our allegiance…

NOTES FOR TODAY'S MESSAGE.

1. What do we mean when we say God is “wholly other?” (Isaiah 46:9)

2. What do we mean when we say God is “transcendent?” (1 Kings 8:27, Isaiah 55:8-9, Matthew 11:25)

3. What do we mean when we say God is “immanent?” (Psalm 145:18, Proverbs 18:24, John 14:17)

4. What challenges do we face when we describe God as “transcendent” & “immanent?”

5. How does Jesus help us understand how God is both “transcendent” & “immanent?” (Isaiah 57:15, Matthew 1:23, Matthew 6:9)

6. What does God’s transcendence & immanence mean for our lives? (Philippians 2:1-5)
