The Gospel is the Good News of God’s Kingdom.
The Announcement that God and His Kingdom exist, Jesus is God, and He died for our sins and rose again.
The Invitation to change our mind and put our trust in Jesus and this Good News, to follow Jesus
The Gospel is not a statement that results in a “get out of hell free” card
Something we have in case we need it but makes no difference in our life

Doing the Will of the Father
Last week, we don’t earn God’s favor by what we do (v. 22)
Maybe they were working to be noticed by others
Notice v. 21. Calling Him Lord is not enough
Isn’t this part of the gospel? Yes!
Just calling Him Lord won’t work, must do the Father’s will
“WAIT!!! I thought we don’t earn it.”
We are saved by changing our minds and believing
By grace alone through faith alone
BUT, we are changed!
Real repentance and belief leads to transformation
Think of the images Jesus uses
Vine and Branches, Wheat, Mustard Seed, Yeast, Crops
The Kingdom grows. The citizens of the Kingdom grow.
What if we don’t?
James 2:17, “Faith without works is dead”
It isn’t faith. It isn’t really changing our mind

So how do we protect against this mistake?
Adopted into a Family
We have been taken into the Kingdom
We have been adopted into the Family!
Do you need to come Home?
Not just agree to a list of statements.
Do you need to participate in the Family?
Independence Day, should we just take the blessings of America or participate?
How much more so the Kingdom and Family of God?
This is like believing that signing the marriage license is the essence of being married
