Redeemer Church Mauritius
A Precious Cornerstone for a Sure Foundation - Cedric Holl
Watching the progress on the church building site is a great reminder of the importance of a good foundation. The state of the foundation is the vital part that determines whether a building will stand or fall when bad weather comes rushing in. The same is true of our spiritual lives. We can build on shaky foundations like popularity or wealth or ambition, or we can build on the solid foundation of God’s Word with Jesus as our cornerstone. You might need to strengthen your foundations to support your building, or you might need to build a bigger building because your foundation is secure. Maybe, you don’t have a foundation at all and today is your opportunity to lay the cornerstone for a sure foundation in your life by putting your faith in Jesus.

1. A tested stone

Jesus was tested by temptation, trials and suffering – and he passed the test. Our cornerstone has been certified by testing.
2. Who can rely on that stone?

- If you trust in yourself, you will trip over the cornerstone.
- If you rely on Jesus, you will stand firm – like the friends who lowered their cripple friend through the roof to Jesus and the woman who touched the hem of his garment.
3. They will never be stricken with panic

- A person caught in rough seas can increase their chance of survival by refusing to panic and allowing themselves to be carried along.
- Panic leads to fear but relying on God leads to hope.
Remember:
Jesus is a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation.
