We all have a part to play in Raising Adults, whether we are parents, aunts/uncles, grandparents, coaches, friends, employers, etc. During this 3 week series, Jonathan will share 15 principles that Donna and he have learned together. To set the stage, reflect on the following passages.

Discuss the following principles. Perhaps you've been a recipient of these principles? Reflect on how you can best implement them as you invest in the next generation.

Principle 1: Know the season you are in.
Are you a CEO, Manager, Coach, Adviser, or Sage? How might you need to adjust and why is it important?

Principle 2: Reach of the ideal. Embrace what is real.
What is the "ideal" that you shoot for...really? How can you more fully maximize your actual reality? How can you avoid the comparison trap?

Principle 3: Openly admit your failures.
Kids need to see the adults in their lives own their mistakes and ask for forgiveness. How difficult or easy is this for you?

Principle 4: Ultimate success is not determined by current reality.
Raising adults is a journey of heart-shaping, not just momentary behavior modification. We must have persistently purposeful patience with the process! How may this perspective benefit us during the detours and scars?

Principle 5: Invest into what they are into.
Raising adults requires selfless love. The goal is well-grounded adults, not just perfectly well-rounded. It's about them, not your dream. How can you best invest your time, energy, and money for them?
