Elijah: greatest prophet, Mt Carmel, prophets of Baal, God speaks in lighting bolt to consume the altar

Jesus: Grace filled

Father says---LISTEN TO MY Son, My Son is over law and prophets

Jesus is transfigured and his clothes become radiantly white (Mark 9:2-3).

Jesus possessed glory from all eternity (John 17:5) but veiled. His glory will be fully revealed to the whole world in the future when “the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and … all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory” (Matt. 24:30; and the description of that event in Rev. 19:11–16).

Peter James and John come off the spiritual High to a spiritual low with the other 9 disciples in an argument with the teachers of the law over a demon possessed boy.

Sadly----

ɫ Christ, “how long put up with faithless people?”-----leaders / People / I believe disciples (could 2x2- now can’t)

- Christ: refocus the discussion, bring boy to ME

- Luke 9: 38 says Only Son ///////// Jesus only Son of Father….pain of a DAD see son hurt

- Re-emphases: ONLY Son

- Not teaching; Name it, Claim IT or prosperity Gospel

- Possible…if we are in God’s Will

ɫ only by Prayer (23) (some manuscripts add fasting)

- Disciples depended on their own power and neglected to pray; lesson for them was that humble, dependent prayer is the highway that faith takes to the power of God…faith size of mustard seed!

- Paul: prayer w/o ceasing

- 1 Thess. 5: 16-18 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

- Prayer---means being in daily relationship, communion with the King of kings and Lord of lords

- More of us here at times in our lives…and it’s ok

- In fact, I believe it can be good…be honest / real /

Friends---it's ok to question and wonder----but always allow that wonder and those questions to lead you back to the grace filled arms of Jesus.
