4 Chair Discipling - "Barriers Between the Chairs"

In John 15:1-8, Jesus teaching relates to the "4 Chairs" of Discipleship. Jesus points out 4 types of productions from people. "No Fruit, Fruit, More Fruit & Much Fruit." Let's discuss some barriers to moving from chair to chair in obedient faith.

Barrier 1 - SIN
The barrier between "No Fruit" and "Fruit" is sin. We cannot "bear fruit" if sin is controlling our lives. God's remedy for sin is discipline. And obedience is the very heart of Christian faith.
Barrier 2 - GOOD THINGS
Moving from "No Fruit" to "Bearing Fruit" is just the start. Jesus says that He, "prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more." "More Fruit" is Chair 3 Discipleship. Don't get comfortable in Chair 2! God's remedy to the Good Things like comfort and ease that hold us back is "Pruning." This is where the disciple must guard his or her heart! Don't allow bitterness to keep you from growing into the person God designed for you to be! Are you committed to following God even through the punishment of life?
Barrier 3 - SATISFACTION
Those who aren't dismayed by the process of pruning can find joy in the harvest! Move from Chair 3 (More Fruit) into Chair 4 and produce "Much Fruit" for the Lord! God's remedy to get us past Satisfaction is to "Abide" or to "remain" in Him. Consistency is key! Make Jesus your permanent dwelling place, partnering with Him in producing "MUCH FRUIT!"
