revealed” in Greek is the word “apokalypsis

It’s where we get the English word “apocalypse

The original meaning of this word actually means “uncover” or “reveal
God is creating a new, multi-ethnic community of His followers; he’s making them one.
To the people reading this letter this is a mind-blowing idea.
“God will bring everyone and everything together under Jesus.”
“Ephesians is an essay summarizing the most apocalyptic event in history - Jesus' life, death and resurrection and the gift of the Spirit to bring new creation right here in the present world.” - Tim Mackie, Bible scholar and co-founder of The Bible Project
Ephesians is about the reconciliation of ethnic groups into one unified people, and this unity extends out into all things…even to the cosmos…as God brings everything together in Christ Jesus...and YOU are a part of that.
“One could argue that the primary fruit of the gospel is not going to heaven when you die but rather the miraculous new family that is created out of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Racial justice and reconciliation remain two of the most urgent matters of faith and public witness. In this respect, the Cross of Christ isn’t just a bridge that gets us to God; it’s a sledgehammer that breaks down walls that separate us.” - Rich Villodis, The Deeply Formed Life
Our gospel has to be big enough to tackle the reality of racial reconciliation.
“The Gospel must not only offer a personal salvation in the future to those who believe; it must also transform all of the relationships of life here and now and thus cause the Kingdom of God to prevail in all the world.” - George Eldon Ladd, Theologian
"Reconciliation is an ongoing spiritual process involving forgiveness, repentance and justice that restores broken relationships and systems to reflect God’s original intention for all creation to flourish." - Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil
1. Racial reconciliation requires eyes wide open.
2. Racial reconciliation requires ears to hear.
3. Racial reconciliation requires hands and feet that move.
Proverbs 21:15 When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.
The Apostle Paul describes us as “Members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.”
Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
