Repent // Amos | Week 2 of Songs for the Soul
He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:3 Worship is one of our oldest traditions of the church, but how intentional are we actually about this spiritual practice? In worship, music becomes a thin place that comes into existence anytime we use our voices, bodies, and abilities to praise our Creator. Worship is where our hearts are laid out honestly and God can meet us where we are. In this series we will be looking at the songs of the Bible to see how God’s people worshiped in the circumstances they were in. Through the music of the Bible we can hope to learn how to embrace worship with purpose in all its forms and learn how to meet God there with hope and authenticity. Maybe along the way we will find that God has a new song for us to sing that can refresh our souls and strengthen our faith.

We hope your worship experience with us helps you encounter God. We are committed to creativity so our services are varied and unique. We believe God's word is just as relevant today as when it was written, so we strive to apply it to everyday life and communicate in a culturally relevant way. We try our best to use down-to-earth language and utilize pop culture to express God's love, communicate God's truth, invite people into new life, and reconnect people with their creator.
Speaker: Megan Miller
Worship can be difficult to practice if we have guilt and shame weighing on our hearts. In the book of Amos, God calls for Israel to repent over their terrible sins and start to love what is good again. We can’t start to accept God’s ways until we let go of our own. Repentance and confession is so easy to ignore but by embracing it we can glorify God’s greatness in our weakness. This song is a funeral song of mourning, it teaches us to mourn our sins through song and welcome God back into our hearts. In repentance we lay our mistakes and brokenness at the feet of Jesus so that he can forgive us and lift us up out of darkness into his light again.
