We are living in difficult days. We need God’s help, His favor, and His grace to sustain us. We need His power at work in us to make it in these days.

I somehow once saw grace only as God’s saving power, not understanding that grace was something we constantly and consistently need at work in our lives.

Grace is something we consistently need at work in our lives!

Paul was not asking for salvation when he was told by the Lord that His grace was sufficient for him. He was asking for help in hard times with struggles he was having.
Let’s look at the Greek word for grace to remind ourselves what grace truly is.

5485 xáris – properly, grace. 5485 (xáris) is preeminently used of the Lord's favor – freely extended to give Himself away to people (because He is "always leaning toward them").
5485 /xáris ("grace") answers directly to the Hebrew (OT) term 2580 /Kaná ("grace, extension-toward"). Both refer to God freely extending Himself (His favor, grace), reaching (inclining) to people because He is disposed to bless (be near) them.

In the definition of grace there is such a beautiful picture of God leaning toward us to share benefits, to empower us, to give Himself away to us because He loves us and is favorable towards us!

God is leaning towards you to help you.

We need God’s favor, His kindness, His help, His blessing in the midst of the chaos of our day. I love the picture of Him leaning towards us because He is disposed to bless and be near us. He wants to give us His power!

Grace is greater than our sin, our struggles, the world's problems or anything we could face. Our God is greater and He is with us. He has saving grace, sustaining grace, fulfilling grace, empowering grace, and keeping grace!

So grace isn’t just the power of God to save us, but it is the power of God at work in us to sustain us. It is more than enough for anything we face. His power is greater, stronger, more powerful than anything the enemy can do in this world.
I hear people speaking of God being able to do more than we could ask, think or dream. And the scripture does clearly state this, but where is this power at work to do this? Is it at work in the world around us? Maybe, but specifically here we see that this power is at work within us!

God’s power is working in us to help us make it through our present circumstances, and He is empowering us to walk in victory and freedom through it all. He grace is more than enough and His power in us is sufficient! We have the greater one living in us!

The Greater One is living, moving and having His being on the inside of you.

This is not just some silly sentiment but is straight from the scripture. God’s grace and power, in the form of Jesus Christ our Redeemer, is living inside of us and is doing the complete work of salvation. Jesus started the work and He will finish it. He will not leave us, will not forsake us, and no matter what comes against us, He is far greater!
I know this season may seem hard, but we must see that God has for us all that we need to prosper, even in this. His grace is sufficient! How will you respond to His grace? Will you lean in toward Him or pull away?
