Text: Proverbs 15:22; 12:15

Conversation Starters help us dig deeper, connecting Sunday’s sermons with our everyday lives. These prompts have been designed to help Community Groups grow in their relationship with God, with one another, and with their neighbors.

Proverbs teaches that Restarting Smart works best when we surround ourselves with wise people. In so many ways, we become who we spend our time with, for good or for ill.

Talk about a time when you saw someone suffer because of his or her relationships. What happened?

READ PROVERBS 13:20. Think about wise friends that you’ve had at different points in your life. In what ways did your friendship with them make you wiser?

How do you determine if someone is a wise addition to your inner circle of close friends?

READ PROVERBS 14:7. What might be some signs that a person is someone whose influence in your life needs to lessen? What does it look like to take healthy steps away from a person who influences you negatively?

READ PROVERBS 12:15. What makes taking advice difficult? Who are some people in your life (family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors) who you should be listening to for advice?

PRAY: Ask the Lord to give you discernment to know the wise people who you should receive counsel from to grow. Also, ask the Lord to give you the humility to accept advice from wise friends and the wisdom to set boundaries with people who are foolish.
