KINGDOM CITIZENSHIP
The Rights, Privileges, and Responsibilities of a Kingdom Citizen
Matthew 6:33 . . . But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Titus 3:5 . . . Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of “Regeneration” and “Renewing” of the Holy Spirit . . .
Matthew 28:18–20 . . . And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
1. You are a citizen of the country of Heaven, not a member of a church.
Philippians 3:17–20 . . . Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 16:16 . . . “The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time, the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.
John 10:7–9 . . . Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
2. You can join a church but you cannot join a country; you must become a citizen
1 Corinthians 15:50 . . . Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
John 3:1–6 . . . There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
