"Let Us Value God's Word"

Key Points:

* Value = to consider with respect to worth, excellence, usefulness, or importance. To regard or esteem highly.
* There are many things that we esteem to be of great value or importance to us. Many of those things we can put a price on. Things such as our homes, our cars, or other material substances. However, there are certain things that we consider to be priceless.
* Our time and relationship with our friends and loved ones can not be replaced with money.
* However, there is one thing that we should value above all else. That is our Creator and his Word. God's word should be more valuable to us then any money, material possession, or relationship we will ever hove or encounter in this life.
* We are encouraged in scripture to come and buy that which money can not buy. It goes on to say "hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness". In other words, nothing can make us complete, meet our needs, and satisfy us with peace and joy as God's word can.
* David declared that God's word was more valuable than anything he could every desire.
* When we hear the voice of the Lord and hearken to him, he makes us whole in every way. The Bible declares that it shall be health to our navel and marrow to our bones. It extends to us long life and peace. And everyone that finds God's word is happy and blessed.
* There are many things we can esteem important in this life but let us not forget to esteem to the highest level the Word of God. Let us embrace it, bind it about our necks, and write it on the table of our hearts. Let us keep God's word so that it may also keep us.
* One more note: We value God's word by obeying it. We can hear it with our ears, we can quote it with our mouths, but there is only one way to truly value God's word and that is by obeying it. Remember what David said after his transgression and God forgave him. David said, "Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee." In other words I am not just a hearer, but I am a doer of God's word.
