IS THERE OIL IN YOUR LAMP?
We are living in the end times and Jesus is coming back soon.

Is the Church, the Bride of Christ ready?

There will be a full awakening of the Body of Christ. Scholars call it the "midnight cry".
The wise virgins had oil in their lamps, the foolish ones didn't. Which one are you and I?

Go back to Matthew 24 to see the context of this parable:

There Jesus taught about 2 things:
1) The destruction of the temple in Jerusalem
2) About the end times, His second coming

Jesus describes the condition of the Church in the very last days.
Read Matthew 25:1-6 again:

- Midnight: everyone asleep, no one expecting.
- Purity of the church.
- There was a time between the outcry and the coming of the Bridegroom.
Read Matthew 25:7-9 again:

- The Bridegroom did not come immediately after the outcry in verse 6.
- There was conversation between the wise and foolish virgins.
- They had time to prepare the wick (trim) of the lamp.
Read Matthew 25: 10-13 again:

- Verse 13 contains a warning from Jesus for His Church
- It connects back to Matthew 24 to say "BE READY"
The coming of Jesus is getting closer, but some will miss it.

We need both the Word and the Spirit!

1. LAMP: Symbol of the Word (David in Psalm 119:105, the Word is a lamp unto our feet).

2. OIL: Symbol of the Holy Spirit (Samuel anointed David to be King and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, 1 Samuel 16:13).
The foolish will realise they did not follow the Holy Spirit as they should have.

The wise will walk in the Word and in the Spirit.

True Christians can also fall asleep, the wise virgins were sleeping. BUT, there was a third party involved...

Those who cry out!
Jesus warned us 2000 years ago, to not fall asleep but to BE AWAKE!

The Church is entering a time of a great outpouring of His Spirit (great power) and also a time of great persecution (Acts: power and persecution).

This may be an uncomfortable message but one that is so necessary for us to be reminded of. The best is yet to come!

Let's be a church that live our lives AWAKENED by His Spirit and by His Word, so that we will be ready when our Saviour returns!
