https://firstbaptistmorton.churchcenter.com/people/forms/169641Overview: Many people devote their entire lives to the pursuit of wealth and possessions, living with a focus only on the things that are temporal. As a result, rather than living in contentment, they live in a constant state of dissatisfaction. In other words, they struggle to get the latest and biggest and newest toys and never enjoy a moment of peace. Why is there no peace? Because their minds are constantly full of worry and fear.
1. They fear not having enough.
2. They fear losing all they have.
Directions: Today, we will examine four key truths when it comes to never being satisfied. Solomon will show us, not only that the love of money is vanity, but also the pursuit of such can lead to many sorrows.

I. A false sense of security. (v. 10)
II. Nothing is what it seems. (v. 11)
Two sad realities:
1. Fake friends (v. 11a)
2. Faulty fortunes (v. 11b)
1. Fake friends (v. 11a)
2. Faulty fortunes (v. 11b)
III. Discontentment disturbs the slumber. (v. 12a)
The dangers of discontentment:
1. Discontentment can deceive the mind.
2. Discontentment can destroy the man.
The ultimate risks:
a. Their family
b. Their fitness
c. Their faith
d. Their future

IV. An appetite that never subsides. (v. 12b)
Destination: The main point of todays message, is not that money itself is the “root of all evil”. Money is necessary to support one’s family. Nonetheless, “the love of money” (1 Tim. 6:10) is what Solomon is talking about. We always pursue the things we feel will fulfill our life and purpose, the things we need to be “successful”, whatever that may be.
As a Christian, our life’s pursuit should be Jesus. It is He who defines our purpose. It is He who gives our life meaning. He is the only treasure that will last forever. He is the only one worth the pursuit.
