I want to by the end of this sermon, inspire you that by the grace of God, we would see God’s goodness settle upon you this year in the area of generosity.
With so many things happening in the world today, I feel the call to SHINE this year in being generous to the things of God more than we have ever before.
Some of you might ask, “Pastor, in the midst of a pandemic and economy crisis?”
”YES!!!!! In a time such as this!!!!”

In the year of 2021, I want to challenge, encourage, and inspire you to SHINE in generosity like you have never done before, because I sense the world will be needing you and I in the upcoming seasons.
We will would focus on two major points today
#1. You and I need to be aligned in the area of tithing
#2. You and I need to be empowered and inspired in generosity
We will would focus on two major points today
#1. You and I need to be aligned in the area of tithing
#2. You and I need to be empowered and inspired in generosity
Point #1: Tithing
What is the tithe?
Vs 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse…
The tithe is a tenth.
Vs 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse…
The tithe is a tenth.
Purpose of tithe?
Vs 10 …that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this
One of the purposes of the tithe is that there would be food in the house of God (the storehouse)
Looks at Lev 27:30 -
30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s. It is holy to the Lord.
Look at Num 18:21-24
21 “Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work which they perform, the work of the tabernacle of meeting. 22 Hereafter the children of Israel shall not come near the tabernacle of meeting, lest they bear sin and die. 23 But the Levites shall perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute forever, throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. 24 For the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer up as a heave offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore I have said to them, ‘Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.’ ”
a second reason for tithe is to support the priests and levites in exchange or in return for the work they did in the tabernacle
Now look at Deut 14:22;28-29
22 “You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year.
28 “At the end of every third year you shall bring out the tithe of your produce of that year and store it up within your gates. 29 And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

What’s the reward of the tithe?
Vs 10 try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

A few principles on tithing:
1. Tithes are RETURNED to God, not offered…the reason is, tithes belongs God.
2. Tithing is not the same as offerings
3. Tithing is rendering to God what is his and unto Cesar what is his.

Point #2: Generosity In Giving
1 Now I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters,[a] what God in his kindness has done through the churches in Macedonia. 2 They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.
- Paul here speaks to the Corinthian church about what God did through the kindness of the Macedonian believers.
Principle:
Keeping the gratitude of being saved by the Lord will energize your reason to be generous.
- It is not about how much money you have, it is about the size of your heart in thankfulness of all that God has done for you

Look at how they gave:
Vs 3 For I can testify that they gave not only what they could afford, but far more.
- The believers gave out of their poverty like the woman with the two mites had done.

With all in this in mind, Paul called Titus to urge the Corinthians to generosity
vs 6…encourage you to finish this ministry of giving.

Giving Adds to Revival
Vs 7 Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us -- I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving.

Paul’s motive to Corinth
Vs 8 I am not commanding you to do this. But I am testing how genuine your love is by comparing it with the eagerness of the other churches.

Giving is About Equality
13 Of course, I don’t mean your giving should make life easy for others and hard for yourselves. I only mean that there should be some equality.

Paul’s Conclusion
14 Right now you have plenty and can help those who are in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it. In this way, things will be equal.

Listen to these final scriptures on Generosity:
Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV)
9 Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
Proverbs 11:25 (NKJV)
25 The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.
