Isaiah 2:3 (MSG) “Come, let’s climb GOD’s Mountain, go to the House of the God of Jacob. He’ll show us the way he works so we can live the way we’re made.”
Definition of disciple (Miriam Webster)

One who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another.

a. Christianity : one of the twelve in the inner circle of Christ's followers according to the Gospel accounts
b. a convinced adherent of a school or individual
The Bible uses two designations for people of faith: Disciple and Pilgrim.

“Disciple” says we are people who spend our lives apprenticed to our master, Jesus Christ.
The goal of the DISCIPLE is not to just to KNOW, but to DO SOMETHING with what you know.
Pilgrim” tells us that we are people who spend our lives going someplace, going to God, and our path for getting there is the way, Jesus Christ.
The goal of the PILGRIM is to GROW as you GO.
Disciple – A Christ follower growing in faith skills as they lead others into and through the journey with God.

To use Isaiah’s description, “knowing the way God works so we can live the way we’re made.”
Religion in our “world” has been captured by the mindset of TOURISTS, not PILGRIMS.

The TOURIST approach values visits to attractive sites when we have adequate time for such LEISURE.
Hebrews 12:1-3 (MSG) Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
Maturity takes TIME and is not LINEAR

The Pilgrim / Disciple‘s path is a LONG OBEDIENCE IN THE SAME DIRECTION resulting in the long run, something which made life worth living.

· Jesus said the authentic mark of his followers is love.
· He defined the primary relationship between God and humanity as one of love.
· The truth he ushered in is inseparable from love.
God did not call us to be SPIRITUAL TOURISTS, but to walk in love as His DISCIPLES AND PILGRIMS.
Isaiah 2:3 (MSG) “Come, let’s climb God ’s Mountain, go to the House of the God of Jacob. He’ll show us the way he works so we can live the way we’re made.”
