Big Idea: Healthy communication means you talk it before you walk it.
According to research by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott - Communication is the lifeblood of a marriage. Almost all couples (97 percent) who rate their communication with their partner as excellent are happily married, compared to only 56 percent who rate their communication as poor. The study concluded: “In an era of increasingly fragile marriages, a couple’s ability to communicate is the single most important contributor to a stable and satisfying marriage.”
5 Practices of Healthy Communication:
1. Make, “I” statements, not “you” statements.
2. Practice reflective listening.
3. Understand and accept the fact that men and women are different.
4. Apologize when necessary.
5. Communicate through touch too!
