Predictions and prophecies about the coming Messiah were written hundreds and thousands of years before the birth, life, and death of Jesus.
Coincidence
Some question if the fulfillment of prophecy was just a coincidence.
The probability of fulfilling just 8 prophecies is one hundred million billion. A million times greater than the total number of people who have ever walked the planet.
Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies.
Altered Gospel
Some may speculate that the stories of Jesus were altered to make them fit.
Many checks and balances, including eyewitnesses, the death of all of the New Testament writers, the willingness of the Jewish leaders to discredit the gospel by pointing out errors, and no mention in Jewish writings, no matter how derogatory, of the falsification of prophecy, keep that from happening.
Intentional Fulfillment
Could Jesus have tried to intentionally fulfill all of the Old Testament prophecies?
While he could have tried to fulfill some, many prophecies of Jesus were fulfilled before and at his birth - while others would have been completely out of his control.
Isaiah proclaimed these words 700 years before Jesus’ birth.
The first gospel message was recorded at the very beginning in Genesis 3.
A battle begins with an enemy, opposition and hostility, and defections.
God grants strength to fight the enemy and temptation and forgiveness to those who flee from him.
The opponent in this fight is most like an individual, some great champion descended from the seed of the woman.
The good news is that while we have a problem, a sin problem, and we have an enemy, we also have a Savior.
You can find him in a manger, on a cross, in a tomb, and in heaven, but he didn’t stay there, and he is not staying there - he is coming back!
The first-century Jews knew who to look for but still did not recognize him when he came. We too can fall victim to the same, the difference being there will be no denying who he is when he comes back. Will you be ready?
