Luke 2:40-52

"Growing Up" - Luke 2

Four scenes of Jesus “growing up”; all of Jesus’ childhood is recorded in the book of Luke.
1. (v. 1-7) Birth
2. (v. 21) 8 days old; circumcised ( Gen. 17, Lev. 12) and naming per instructions from the angel Gabriel. (Matt. 1:21). Jesus = Jehovah is salvation!
3. (v. 22) one month; dedication and purification for Mary in Jerusalem.
(Leviticus 12:2-4)… If a woman becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son, she will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her menstrual period. 3 On the eighth day the boy’s foreskin must be circumcised. 4 After waiting thirty-three days, she will be purified from the bleeding of childbirth. During this time of purification, she must not touch anything that is set apart as holy. And she must not enter the sanctuary until her time of purification is over.
4. (v. 41-52) Jesus is 12 on a family trip with parents and relatives to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover.

STICKY STATEMENT
Growing up is optional! Growing up in our faith in God is essential to being a follower of Jesus. It takes 3 easy steps… Grow, Die, Repeat!

From today’s sermon and worship experience...
What am I learning about God?
What am I learning about myself/others?
How can I apply the truth of God’s Word to my life?
