We would all agree that what happened in 2020 was unexpected. Did you know the first Christmas was also incredibly unexpected? It was full of unexpected people who were part of totally unexpected events that led to an unexpected rescue operation. Who would have thought that a godly peasant girl would get unexpectedly pregnant, heavenly angels would announce the coming of a king to and an unexpected group - some lowly shepherds, a helpless baby supposed to be king would be born in a manger and heaven would establish a beachhead on earth amidst cows, donkeys and dung? It’s not what God’s people were expecting and because of that many missed what God was doing in it all and what He had planned. But for those who saw God’s fingerprints in the unexpected and believed, everything changed. God did the unexpected that Christmas so we can live with expectation today.
