Mission Hills Church
Mission Killers | The Intimidation Monster
God is, by his very nature, out-going, outward-facing and on-mission. Always has been. Always will be. And human beings, made in His image, are created to live on-mission with Him...but do we? Join us as we explore seven of the most common obstacles to living in fulfillment of our purpose as God’s children.

Welcome to Mission Hills!
Mission Hills is a church family—a family who wants to extend to you the same love, hope, and joy that we have received. We know that we cannot be all things to all people. But we do want to be one thing to all people. We want to be the place where anyone, of any age, of any level of spiritual maturity, of any economic class, of any ethnicity, of any church background—or no church background—can meet God in a way that transforms their life…forever!

If you are a first time guest, we would love to meet you! Stop by the Welcome Center for a free gift!

Love in Action

Love in Action is about transforming lives by mobilizing the people of God to serve our community. When we serve in our neighborhoods, we not only share the transforming power of the good news, but we also become more like Jesus. This year, we won't have our normal worship services on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 + 14 - instead, we'll be the church as we serve our community—one life at a time. Sign up in the lobby this weekend or online.

The church in Ephesus was facing the mission killer of Institutional Amnesia...the temptation to forget what makes a church a church.
Let’s take a little survey: How many of us have ever been in a situation where there was an opportunity to speak the truth about Jesus or the Gospel or what the Bible says about something…but we found ourselves hesitant to speak up?
1 // First, Smyrna was a very prominent city. They called themselves "first city of Asia". But Jesus says "they think that makes them a big deal?"
2 // Second, Jesus says “I’m the one who died and came to life again.” the city had been destroyed and rebuilt in 290 BC. They called it their "resurrection". But Jesus says "they think that makes them a big deal?"
Jesus is a bigger deal than anything I'm intimidated by.
I know your afflictions and your poverty - yet you are rich! (Rev 2:9a)
I will not let what I lack keep me from sharing what I have in abundance.
I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. (Rev 2:9b)
I will not let what others think they know about me keep me from doing what I know Jesus has called me to.
Really living on mission with Jesus will result in some difficulties, but there will be an end to that persecution.

It might feel like a long time in the midst of it, but we need to hold on, because it won’t last forever.
Rev 2:10c
I will not let the world’s short-term threats scare me into keeping God’s long-term promises to myself.
1 // That is why cannot let what we lack keep us from sharing what we have in abundance.

2 // That is why we cannot let what others think they know about us keep us from doing what we know for certain Jesus has called us to.

3 // And that is why we cannot let the world’s short-term threats scare us into keeping God’s long-term promises to ourselves.
Our news is too good to let anything intimidate us into keeping it to ourselves.
Week 2 Challenge

Choose a public way to show your faith. Post a verse or share your testimony on social media, post a Bible verse in your locker or cubicle, or share your faith with a friend at your kid’s soccer game.

Revelation 2:8–11

Baptism Weekend: October 6 + 7

We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior. Baptism does not save you—it shows others that you are already a believer. If you're ready to be baptized, we'd love to have you attend our Baptism Preparation Classes the weekend of September 29 + 30. Sign up online.
