The Lost Sheep
Jesus is hanging out with the wrong people. They were tax collector and sinners, which is the politically correct way of saying he was hanging out with outcasts.
They were known as “The people of the land.” They were looked down upon, treated like scum. Then Jesus comes along and hangs out with them.
Jesus was confronted by the Pharisees and teachers of the Law who looked down up the “People of the Earth” with the attitude, “I’m a better person.”
So Jesus told a couple of parables.
The first deals with a lost sheep (Luke 15:3-7). You can watch a video of this parable:

How do sheep become lost? Is it more because of defiance or carelessness?
What are some examples of how we can be careless with our following after Jesus?
Note, the sheep became lost out in the pasture of life.

The Lost Coin
The second parable has to do with a coin that is lost (Luke 15:8-10).
How did the coin become lost? Was it the coin’s fault or the fault of the lady?
How are some ways we can directly or indirectly lead others away from following after Jesus?
Note, the coin was lost at home.

The Lost Found

What does repentance mean?
What do these parables teach us about Jesus? Hint: Luke 19:10
