Pastor Joe's Bio

Pastor Joe was born in the little town of Crasna (Romania). Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique connection between pastors and their special book, the Bible. When at the age of 7 he received his first little Bible from a brave pastor who was able to procure it for him in spite of the interdictions of the communist regime, he felt special and decided one day he would become a pastor.

After serving as a Pastor for 8 years in Romania, in 2013 he immigrated to the USA. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with his wonderful wife Anda and their gorgeous daughter Alessandra, he enjoys proclaiming God’s grace and ministering to his fellows.

Pastor Joe is currently enrolled in a doctoral Program (DMin in Preaching) with Andrews University. His hobbies are languages, music, and poetry.

Sermon Theme: Divine mercy often makes us confuse with regard to divine justice. Nevertheless, God is there doing justice even when we don’t see it. He has to be just; one-sided mercy toward the abuser would be further abuse toward the abused

In biblical times, trumpets were regarded as sacred instruments. They had the shofar, made usually of ram horns. They used it as a signaling instrument; its function was to make noise rather than music. But they also had trumpets made of hammered metal…
The priests used chatsotserah silver trumpets for different purposes, such as calling people together, or sounding the alarm in times of war. They also used trumpets in the temple service and during their festivals, especially during the Feast of the Trumpets.
One important meaning of the sound of the trumpet was to call on God to remember his people. When they (the priests) blew the trumpets, God remembered them! Or better to say, the sound of the trumpet provided Israel with the assurance that God rememberedthem.
For instance, when attacked by enemies (Num. 10:9)
The blowing of the trumpets signaled divine intervention on behalf ofHis people, God’s acts of justice on the enemies of His people. This is the core meaning of the 7 trumpets in the Book of Revelation!
Now things get really dramatic.
There is phrase made famous by the 19th century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche: Gott ist tot! (God is dead!) Nietzsche used the phrase in a figurative sense, to express the idea that the Enlightenment had "killed" the possibility in a belief in any god. God is dead – we hear it as a jingle of atheists and neo-atheists.
The message of the 7 trumpets is that God is not dead! He hears the sound of the trumpet… he remembers his people! No matter how messy it will become, God will always take care of his people… and part of God’s taking care of his people is “taking care” of the enemies of his people. Because He is love he has to “deal with” the enemies of his people!!!
What God does, actually, is he allows Satan to torture his own… even kill them… maybe-maybe the people of the enemy will finally understand they have sided with the wrong party. But they refuse to repent and will reap the consequences of their decisions…
Mercy and justice are the two sides of love. God cannot be merciful only; he has to be just as well. Mercy/grace is God’s means of salvation; but much of the Bible is about justice! The problem of divine justice (theodicy) is the number one religious problem in the world. Where is God… when bad things happen to the good?
The message of the 7 trumpets is that God is just! He has to do justice! One-sided mercy to the abuser is further abuse to the abused!!! In the intricacy of life, God performs justice, even when we don’t see it that way! We often don’t get it because God mixes it with mercy!
Yes, because at this point even divine justice is about repentance. He still mixes justice with mercy so that people can repent… and there will be a final appeal of grace (chs. 10-11).
And then the 7th angel will sound: Rev. 11:15-17:15Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"
Conclusion:

When the last trumpet is blown Jesus comes!!!
