Thanksgiving should be a daily thing in your life.The art and the act of gratitude should be a normal thing in your life, however, there are special circumstances in which we must make out time to thank God.

1. AFTER A DELIVERANCE.

After experiencing the deliverance of God, it is imperative to come back to God in thanksgiving.

The Children of Israel were on their way out of Egypt when the Egyptian armies attacked them, trapping them before the Red Sea.The Children of Israel were trapped. Pharaoh was behind them, and the Red Sea was in front of them. Sometimes, we’re surrounded with the enemy, and we feel like giving up. The Children of Israel felt like throwing in the towel, but God made a way where men said there was none.When men say you have gotten to the end of the road, God says you have only just begun your journey.When you feel like you’ve gotten to your wit’s end, that is when the mountains melt like wax. Only Jehovah could do this

2. WHEN YOU’RE STILL IN DISTRESS.

It’s easy to thank God when you’ve seen the deliverance, but what about when you haven’t?

The people of Israel had trouble with their enemies. And God told them to not bother, that He would fight their battles for them. The King of Israel, Jehoshaphat, didn’t wait till they were delivered. He brought praise singers to the battle ground, and God did their fighting for them.Paul and Silas were in prison. They didn’t wait to be delivered. They praised and sang.

They prayed. And an angel of God had to come down.The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people.Jehoshaphat was a man of unusual faith. He put the choristers in front of his army. And the Lord set an ambush in the camp of the enemy.

The highest demonstration of faith is not your prayer, or seed, but your ability to thank God even when you haven’t seen the answer to your prayers.Everybody can pray. Everybody can worship. Not everybody can thank God in advance. It takes uncommon faith to do that.When you thank God for something, He is obligated to do that thing, because He will not take glory for something He hasn’t done.

3. WHEN YOU HAVE SUFFERED LOSS.

Noah suffered tremendous loss. He and his family were the only ones remaining on the earth.

Instead of murmuring, He began to praise and thank God. And God came down and pronounced the same blessing He had pronoucned on Adam and Eve. Habakkuk says “Though the fig tree might not blossom. Though the river may run dry…” I will praise the Lord. For we look not at the things that we can see, but on the One who has everything in His control.They said to David “How can you lose your child and begin to thank God?”Job lost everything, but He knew that His redeemer lives.

He knows the thoughts that He has for us.Even though we walk through the valley of the shadows of death, His rod is with us. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. We might be in the fiery furnace, but that is not where we’re ending up. Our destination is the throne. Though we’re in the valley right now, our destination is the place of banquet in the presence of our enemies.

4. WHEN GOD HAS ADDED SOMETHING TO YOU.

Do not take it for granted that you can buy a car. Do not take it for granted that you got married and your wife took in in the first month.Don’t take it for granted.When they came to John the Baptist and told Him that Jesus was baptising men, he said “No man receives anything, unless it has been given to him from above.” When you receive anything from God, it is time to say “Thank You.”

When you dedicate something to God, you dedicate it with thanksgiving.See when Solomon dedicated the temple. He dedicated it with praise. He dedicated it with prayer, but the Bible also says that everywhere on the altar, he slew thousands of burnt offerings. Look at your competitors and see how they dedicate themselves to their gods. When you dedicate something to someone, it is like you’re acknowledging the source of that thing. You do not know what your competitor is sitting on, and you want to dedicate that new position in the office. And then you trivialize it. When you want to dedicate a child, come to God with manifest thanksgiving.The same prophet by which the shunammite woman got her child, was the same prophet that brought him back to life when he died.What if she didn’t dedicate the child in the first place?

When Jesus recieved the loaves of bread and fishes, He first thanked God. The Bible says it was multiplied. When you thank God for something, He multiplies it.

5. WHEN YOU’RE WAITING ON GOD FOR SOMETHING.

When you’re looking up to God for something, the moment you get a word from God, begin to thank Him. The moment you get a word from God, you have received a miracle, because it is the word that becomes flesh.Your thanksgiving, and the word of prophecy, is all you need at this time.

God gave the word about Jesus in Genesis 3, but Jesus didn’t come to the earth as man until years later.

After the mighty hand of God has saved you, make sure to come back to Him with thanksgiving.

The Israelites did not continue their journey. They stayed there and they praised God!
