We all experience the world differently. Part of that is shaped by our context. This refers to your specific personality and the particular background that helped shaped you. There is much to make us distinct but there’s the essence of our humanity that connects us together. And I believe one of the most relatable qualities we have is our possession of the five senses: Sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
And all five were there at the genesis of humanity. “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it (VISION; TOUCH). And the Lord God commanded the man, saying (HEAR), “You may surely eat (TASTE; SMELL) of every tree of the garden.” Genesis. 2:15-16 (ESV)
The location God places humanity awakens and helps him identify his senses. Can you imagine experiencing a garden for the first time? The sight of the colors. The touch of the ground beneath uncalloused feet. The smell of the fresh air. The taste of the fruit. The sound of the voice of the Almighty. Every step reveals a new sensation.
Join us in June for our annual marriage series. Together, we’ll look through the lense of these God-gifted senses and discover health for our marital relationships.
