Pastor Joseph Salajan Bio

Pastor Joe was born in the little town of Crasna (Romania). Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique connection between pastors and their special book, the Bible. When at the age of 7 he received his first little Bible from a brave pastor who was able to procure it for him in spite of the interdictions of the communist regime, he felt special and decided one day he would become a pastor.

After serving as a Pastor for 8 years in Romania, in 2013 he immigrated to the USA. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with his wonderful wife Anda and their gorgeous daughter Alessandra, he enjoys proclaiming God’s grace and ministering to his fellows.

Pastor Joe is currently enrolled in a doctoral Program (DMin in Preaching) with Andrews University. His hobbies are languages, music, and poetry.

Pastor Joe's Sermons

Sermon Theme:

Worship is assessing the right value of God; it is ascribing worthiness to Him for who He is! We worship Him because of what He has done for us, not in order to have Him do something for us.

Who Are You Praising?

The Book of Revelation is big on praise and worship. Whom do I praise? Whom do I worship? This is especially true for the section of the 7 seals (chapters 4-7). This section starts with praise and worship and ends with praise and worship.
Bulletin

This section contains the traditional bulletin, including:

• The Ministry of Giving
• Service Order and Participants
• Songs in today's service
• Sunrise/Sunset times
In chapter 4 they praise and worship the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe
The word worship in the English comes from worth and worthy… The Greek word is axios; axiology is the study of value and valuation.
Because He's Worthy

God is worshipped… because He is worthy. He is valued…because He is valuable. Why is He worthy? Because He created all things! The 4 living creatures (cherubim) and the 24 elders (reps of the un-fallen worlds) recognize His value/worth as Creator and Sustainer. Worship is central in chapter 5 as well. The question is asked: Who is worthy…?
Who are the worshippers?

You would expect the redeemed to praise and worship their Redeemer. However, here those that have never been lost (never needed redemption) praise the Savior for redeeming those who were lost! Isn’t that an expression of love…?
What is worship?Worship is assessing the right value/worth of God. When I contemplate what God does in me and around me (Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer), I come to the conclusion: God is better, greater, stronger, wiser, and more beautiful than I thought! And I worship Him! I can’t keep it inside!I praise Him!
Robots? Nope

Some believe we were created to praise, worship and serve God. As if God was an egotistic narcissist that created beings for Himself… to have someone to stroke his divine ego, like some preprogrammed robots. All we are here for is to honor God and give Him glory! If that’s the case, I don’t wonder why people walk away from God…
Brad Pitt: “I didn't understand this idea of a God who says, “You have to acknowledge me. You have to say that I'm the best, and then I'll give you eternal happiness. If you won't, then you don't get it!” It seemed to be about ego. I can't see God operating from ego, so it made no sense to me.”He walked away from a distortion of God, not from God as He really is!

Ellen White captures the essence of worshiping and serving God. Desire of Ages, 22:
The exercise of force is contrary to the principles of God's government; He desires only the service of love; and love cannot be commanded; it cannot be won by force or authority. ONLY BY LOVE IS LOVE AWAKENED. To know God is to love Him.
Spirit and Truth

Jesus said true worshipers worship in spirit and in truth. True worship happens at the intersection of heart and mind. It is not merely emotional, and not merely rational. It is both. If worship were emotion only, it would be a fuzzy mystical something. If worship were reason only, it would be a series of rigid movements (routine, rust, ruin).
Why are you praising God? Why are you worshipping?

I don’t know, but I will worship my heart out! That’s paganism…! If you don’t have any reason to praise Him, don’t praise Him.Don’t do lip service…Don’t act as if… “I hate all your show and pretense—the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies. (Amos 5:21 NLT)
We worship God based on the truth of who He is!

We worship/praise/give because we have already received… not don’t worship/praise/give in order to receive…

We have good reason to praise and worship him. We worship God because He created us and He sustains us. Someone that denies God as the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe has no truth to base his worship on! That’s the challenge of evolution…

We also worship Jesus Christ (the Lamb) because He redeemed us. Someone that has not been redeemed has no truth to base worship on. According to Paul, we are already siting in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus… (Eph. 2:6) By faith we are victorious already. We praise Him for the redemption has already happened, although salvation is not complete yet. That’s ch.6.
Praise & Worship

Praise and worship is really big in chapter 7… here salvation is complete.
Conclusion

But until then we will worship Him and praise Him among our tears…
