- The Pharisees sought to cause division and Jesus removes Himself.
Instead of following the customary Jewish route to Galilee that would bypass Samaria, Jesus travelings through Samaria.
- Jesus goes above social cues of the day in order to minister to this Samaritan woman.
- To be talking with a woman, about spiritual matters, and to drink water from her water pot would have been outrageous in this time and setting.
- Jesus takes the conversation higher! “If you would have known, you would have asked, and I would have given.” (v10)

2. GOD WILL MAKE A PLACE
- The woman changes the topic and challenges Jesus. “You are not greater than our Father, Jacob?” (v12)
- Jesus takes the conversation higher, again; “but whoever drinks of the water that I give...” (v14)
- An allusion to the Holy Spirit, He will not only satisfy us MORE than mere water from Jacob’s Well, but it will also be a WELL of eternal life IN US.

3. GOD HAS A PURPOSE
- The woman experiences Jesus and wants to tell others. Notice the new confidence she has to face others!
