The Strength of the Church
1. The Church must have appropriate leadership.
- The Church is based on leadership.
- The church must follow its leaders
~ Hebrews 13:17 - Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
- Leaders must be qualified.
- Leaders must lead with Godly guidance.
~ This is often confused or ignored.
2. Leaders must seek God.
- “If we do God’s work, in God’s way, at God’s time with God’s power, we shall have God’s blessings.”
- Those who lead must constantly pray and depend on God’s Spirit.
~ Acts 13:2-3 - While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.
- We must depend on God’s Word and God’s Spirit.
- If we aren’t going to pray, we should NOT help make decisions.

Wednesday, May 30 will be the date of our next Congregational Meeting. This meeting will begin at 6:45 and last for one hour.
The meeting will be more informational than voting. If you are new to our church you may not be aware of how the church operates.
We meet four times a year and give reports concerning attendance, ministries, and finances. If you have had issues with "church politics" in the past, we need you to know that we do not run our church that way.
Most of this meeting will be a report from me to the congregation concerning our building and our building finances. We also discuss where we are in our giving campaign (Forward Capital Campaign) and in the budget for the challenging year.
In the last 15 minutes or so, you will hear a recommendation that the Finance Ministry Team be authorized to borrow up to $1 million short-term, giving us the ability to finish the Administrative/Offices Building and to redecorate the present Administrative/office area for our Special Friends Ministry. The need for this is a timing issue. When our Forward campaign is complete, we should be able to repay the money quickly.
We also want to show you how we are handling our budget while adding money for utilities, maintenance, property & casualty insurance, and ministries that are rapidly expanding.
Over the years we have conducted meetings like this which I called Vision Meetings. This meeting will follow that format and conclude with the brief business portion.
Please join us. We will meet in the worship center and the choir and orchestra will lead us at the beginning of the meeting.
