Review of Romans 1
-Are we satisfied with business as usual or are we willing to let the Holy Spirit change us?”

-Have we forgotten the Bible is not about us, it’s about Jesus, the Savior?

-Do we realize the Gospel is the “keystone” to our faith?

-Have we allowed the “truth suppressors” to change our hearts? Have we replaced God with modern idols?

-Have we replaced God with our own self-gratification?

Today we will study Romans 1:28-32

*God gave them over…
-God gave them up to self-gratification. (verse 24)
-God gave them up to dishonorable passions. (verse 26)
-God gave them up to a debased mind. (verse 28)

*The debased mind = worthless or polluted

Sins of the debased mind:
-Gossips or whisperers
-Slanderers and backbiters
-Haters of God and God’s people.
-Insolent (provide insults)
-Haughty (proud) / Stuck up!
-Boastful braggarts….inauthentic and pretenders.
-Inventors of evil and involved with secret sin.
-Disrespectful to parents.
-Foolish
-Faithless. Promise breakers
-Heartless and unloving
-Ruthless and unmerciful.

*The path of sin creates destruction and it ain’t pretty

*Sin is a trap which sucks people in.

*Refined gold…. 1 Peter 1:3-18 and Ephesians 4:17-32

The result of the renewed mind:
-One will speak truth.
-One will deal with anger.
-One won’t let Satan have a foothold.
-One will share with those in need.
-One will have encouraging speech.
-One will not upset the Holy Spirit.
-One will not be bitter, revengeful, and hurtful.
-One will be kind, loving and forgiving.
*That’s having the “mind of Christ!”


How to Renew the Mind:
Ask God to make your mind new.
Be convicted of self-centeredness.
Recognize Satan is a liar.
Replace the negative lies with God’s truth.
"Right thinking" leads to "right actions," which leads to "right feelings."
After you give the sin over to God…Rest your mind in God’s grace!

*We need a spiritual LifeStraw FILTER!
