Deeper Theme: The Sabbath is a blessing, not a burden. It should add value to our life, not ruin our life.
Are there things that are not “lawful” to do on the Sabbath?

…but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work…(Exod. 20:10 NKJ)

Was what the disciples did “work”?
The Pharisee’s interpretation: they harvested the grains, they trashed the grains and they grinded the grains…
What was actually David’s “unlawful” act?

1 Samuel 21 à High Priest: Ahimelek
Gave them “holy bread that had been already removed from the show-table.
The law: only the priests could eat it!
How did the priests profane the Sabbath?

Numbers 28:9 doubled sacrifices
More work than during the week…

Those things happen in the temple…

Here there is One Greater than the Temple!
What does this mean?

You should ask me how these things are, instead of teaching me…
27And He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.” 28"Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." (Mk. 2:27-28 NKJ)

Rabbinic interpretation: Sabbath centered religion…Sabbath walking distance (1/2 mile); how to milk the cow…

The Sabbath is a divine gift blessing, not burden
Is there a limit to “doing good” on a Sabbath day?

Once the sheep is out of the pit, you should stop J

It is also lawful to do good during the week…

??? (medical staff, firefighters, etc.)
àholy common-sense
